Shinkawa VM-5T Dual Channel Thrust Shaft Displacement Monitoring Module
VM-5T is a Japanese Shinkawa VM-5 series TSI dual channel thrust shaft displacement monitoring module that meets the API-670 mechanical protection standard. It has a plug-in structure and is compatible with VM-5H3 and VM-5W1 racks, used for monitoring the axial thrust position of rotating mechanical rotors.
Function: VM-5T Receive signals from two eddy current probes and collect real-time bidirectional axial displacement of the rotor; Complete signal conditioning and computation, provide warning and danger relay outputs, and send signals to the ETS interlocking protection system; Output 4-20mA analog signal and upload it to DCS to achieve monitoring of shaft displacement data; Equipped with probe disconnection and short circuit fault self inspection, monitoring the status of thrust bearing shells to prevent them from burning out, and providing critical protection measurement signals for steam turbines and compressor units.

Product features
- Dual channel independent shaft displacement measurement, with two channel ranges and alarm thresholds that can be configured separately, suitable for bidirectional thrust displacement monitoring of rotors.
- The panel integrates digital display and light column indication, and real-time displacement values can be directly read on site; Parameter settings are completed using panel buttons and dip switches, without the need for upper level software.
- Each channel is independently configured with warning and danger level relay contacts, and the alarm delay can be set to avoid false alarms and tripping during the start-up and shutdown stages of the unit.
- Support hot swapping, the cabinet can be continuously powered on to replace modules without affecting the protection function of other monitoring modules in the rack.
- Equipped with sensor disconnection and short circuit self-test; The BNC interface of the panel outputs the original displacement waveform, and external instruments can be used for fault analysis during maintenance.
- The relay supports normally open/normally closed configurations and can adapt to the design requirements of different interlocking circuits.
- Compliant with API-670 Rotating Machinery Protection Specification; Belonging to the old generation TSI hardware, new projects will no longer be selected and will only be used for in-situ replacement of existing VM-5 system spare parts.
Usage Scenarios
- TSI system for steam turbine units in thermal and gas-fired power plants, with bidirectional axial thrust displacement monitoring of rotors to achieve thrust tile protection.
- On line monitoring of shaft displacement for petrochemical turbine centrifugal compressor units and steam driven equipment, participating in ETS trip interlock logic.
- The simulated data of shaft displacement for large-scale rotating units in oil refining and coal chemical industries is sent to the DCS system for status monitoring.
- Replacement of old equipment spare parts for Shinkawa VM-5H3 and VM-5W1 racks, directly reusing the original probes and wiring.
- Unit maintenance and debugging, collecting displacement raw signals through BNC waveform output interface, analyzing rotor thrust status.
