Shinkawa VM-742B2-5 redundant dual port communication gateway module
VM-742B2-5 is a redundant dual port communication gateway module for the Japanese Shinkawa VM-7 series TSI system, installed in slot 1 of the VM-761B rack; VM-742B2-5 collects measurement values, alarms, and fault information of all monitoring modules (vibration, displacement, speed, relay modules) inside the rack through the rack backplane bus; Using Modbus TCP protocol for external output; Dual network ports can achieve network redundancy, seamlessly replacing one network failure with the other, ensuring uninterrupted uploading of TSI data to DCS/PLC; Support MCL View diagnostic software to complete module parameter configuration, fault record reading, and vibration data analysis. VM-742B2-5 is the core digital interface board for the VM-7 series TSI system and upper control system docking.

Product features
- Dual independent RJ45 Ethernet interfaces, supporting network redundancy mode. A single Ethernet cable or switch port failure will not interrupt TSI data communication, improving the reliability of the entire system network.
- The backplane bus reads all measurement points of up to 11 monitoring modules in this rack, including vibration, displacement, speed, relay status, and module fault information.
- Support hot swapping, the cabinet can be replaced with modules without power on, without affecting the continued operation of other monitoring module protection functions.
- Compatible with MCL View debugging software, online reading of vibration waveforms, modification of alarm parameters, retrieval of historical fault events, facilitating unit maintenance and fault tracing.
- The register mapping of version 5 is fixed and standardized, and there is no need to redevelop the point table when docking with DCS. Spare parts can be replaced directly with the original configuration.
- The panel LED status indicator lights respectively display the module operation, two network port links, and backplane bus fault status, making it easy to quickly troubleshoot network problems on site.
- Two VM-742B2-5 can be installed on a single rack to achieve module level and network level dual redundancy, suitable for high reliability unit projects.
- The old generation TSI communication hardware will no longer be selected for new projects, mainly used for replacing spare parts in existing power plants and petrochemical VM-7 systems.

Usage Scenarios
- The TSI system for steam turbines in thermal and gas-fired power plants requires network redundancy to avoid the loss of vibration and speed protection measurement point data due to single network failures.
- The large-scale centrifugal compressor unit in the petrochemical industry, a key rotating equipment, requires highly reliable digital communication to upload DCS/PLC.
- Key units in coal chemical and oil refineries adopt a dual network architecture to prevent single point of network failure and ensure continuous upload of TSI data.
- Replacement of spare parts for the existing VM-761B rack system, replacement of damaged VM-742B2-5 in situ, reuse of existing network configuration and DCS point table.
- Unit maintenance and debugging, connected to PC diagnostic software through the network port, read vibration waveforms and alarm records, and carry out rotating machinery fault analysis.
