8922-RB-IS is an Eaton (MTL) MTL8000 series Railbus bus isolation module used for PAC8000 control system backplane bus, achieving electrical isolation between safety zone bus and intrinsic safety (IS) fieldbus. 8922-RB-IS is used for system architecture with intrinsic safety I/O modules, isolating hazardous fault voltages, protecting intrinsic safety side field wiring and I/O cards, and is widely used in explosion-proof hazardous conditions such as chemical and petrochemical industries. It is used as a system supporting spare part.

Product function
1. Bus electrical isolation: Perform current isolation on the Railbus bus to block the intrusion of fault voltage from the safe zone side into the intrinsic safety circuit, avoiding the failure of the explosion-proof performance of the intrinsic safety field circuit.
2. Bus segmentation isolation: Divide the backplane bus into two segments: the safety zone (2/2) and the intrinsic safety zone (2/1). The intrinsic safety I/O module must be arranged on the isolated bus segment.
3. Transparent signal forwarding: Isolate and fully forward bus data communication to ensure normal data exchange between the controller and the intrinsic safety side I/O module, without interrupting measurement point acquisition and output control.
4. Intrinsic safety circuit protection: protects intrinsic safety I/O modules and on-site explosion-proof instruments, prevents surge and overvoltage damage to on-site intrinsic safety equipment, and meets safety regulations for explosion-proof areas.
5. System architecture matching: All PAC8000 systems equipped with intrinsic safety I/O modules must be equipped with this isolation module for project construction and replacement of faulty spare parts.
